Most cats are lactose intolerant.
When cats are weaned, ‘Lactase’ the enzyme that enables the digestion of Lactose begins to disappear from the gut. Therefore, when cats drink cow milk which contains a large amount of Lactose, it may develop symptoms of gastrointestinal distress including vomiting, diarrhea and stomach cramps, and that’s no fun for them at all.
The alternative is to give them goat milk which has lower amount of Lactose and is much more easier to digest, a good option for a small and infrequent treat.
